People voted Obama just for economy and jobs. I remember when Paulin was announced GOP was leading for 2 weeks. When Stock market started tanking with demise of Lehmen GOP started losing. Imstead of not concentrating on economy he started working on healthcare. So democrats lost. In this situation he will realise now and he will take economy as first priority and immigration will be last 10th priority. Immigration group may have defend many anti immigrant bills and memos in this year. But nothing will be passed either for or against immigrants. Status quo will continue for 2010. This nov Election results will decide CIR 20111

The good old time, bills are passed that are important and good for the general people and this some times was not popular, but now only the issues popular are are being taken and rather than voting on what is good, the law makers tend to go with what people like, and people's likes and dislikes keep changing and the same change work against them sometimes. Also people on one area does not like what is liked in other area and when we have a product that contains both, well the same people now unite and start to not like the final product and this goes on ..... It is same CHANGE that President Obama mentions too often, but the same change is Now liked by Republicans, and Dems did not like the change this time around. Also with the communication revolutions, the election campaign seems to have become much much long.... And Oh !! Well... now our President apart from Health Care Reform, Immigration Reform and climate change issue, also need to work on his re-election from now on, if he doesn't want the change he loves some much, in White House in 2012 election... HOPE - at least people in this group, see CHANGE for better, CHANGE from AOS to LPR .... Now, let us see what will this loss of filibuster majority by Dems do in the interim.... Only time can tell. Change we can believe in !!!

If anybody has used a lawyer for AC21, please post the lawyer details and their cost.

Question is why do you need a lawyer for AC21. It does not require any action, unless USCIS asks for confirmation of same/similar job offer. In any case, if you choose to take some action, just send copy of new job offer to UCSIC (by your your new employer that they have a job for you when you get your GC). The letter should have job details same/similar to what you were sponsored for.
When lawyers want to do this, they do so only to make some money.

Have your 485 checks been cashed? You really need to start following up - if you went through a lawyer, check with the lawyer. If not, tell the lawyer to give you a status on the receipt notice.

I have a somewhat tangent but related question that I could not find a definite answer to while searching thru the various threads here -
What is the best way to change representation of one's case from the company lawyer to Self when you are changing jobs? Someone mentioned on one of the threads that one needs to file another G-28 form but I believe that is the case only if you are changing to a different attorney - please advise.
Also, does anyone have any experience with how long it takes for this change to take effect once communicated to USCIS?

I agree with you. It is indeed very difficult to make people pull out a card and pay. As you said it will indeed increase the irrelevant post which will require increased monitoring.

Its just scary that after all these years they might consider the case abandoned if you don't receive the damn FP letter. Some guys didn't even get the receipts yet. I feel for those...
P.S.: Anybody got the case closed because they missed the FP appointment ? Is there a way to reopen it ?

One of my close friend and her husband both had Greencard. She delivered baby in India in 2002. They were not able to get their son to US. They tried visitors visa for the baby but the consulate rejected the visa. The baby is still in India with his grandparents. They filed for his greencard (family based). They are counting days to get their son to US. He is already 6 years old. It is very tough for the parents and kid. I am not sure about the other options that people has mentioned. But I see my friend family directly who are facing this problem. I don't think it is a good idea.
Parents must have made a trip to US without kid. The rule is very clear. It must be parents' first trip back to US with the kid.

EB3 retrog is completely hopeless in next 2 or 3 years unless the legislation release is passed. Lobbying is the only way to influence.
suppose this SKIll bill is passed, probablly not this year since election are aboutto happen. what are the chances that EB3 worldwidw will become current when SKILL BILL goes into affect. I am sure there are majority of people here are Eb3 category.
What if someone is got a few monts left before they finsih the Masters, but their process in in EB3. Can they take advantage of this bill. Obviouslly one has to finish the degree first.

actually you don't need even a degree to get EB1. if you have a nobel prize or pulitzer prize or olympics medal or equivalent you can apply and get eb1. (details are there in uscis website). phd and several published papers and patents are not sufficient for eb1.

I got the Card Production Ordered e-mail today. No LUD even last night at 1 Am. Only one LUD today. My case is processed at Texas service center. And my receipt date is not with in their processing times.
